As you may recall a few months ago 'Beware Of The Teacher' was reviewed and written about on Janette Fullers blog. Janette is a retired elementary school librarian. Now she reviews children's books and a wide variety of nonfiction. You can find the review of 'Beware Of The Teacher' at http://janettefuller.blogspot.com/2012/10/childrens-book-review-beware-of-teacher.html
I like the way that Janette breaks down the review into different sections. In the first section (after a brief introduction to me) she discusses the premise of the story. The point of the book, which Janette gets, is to encourage discussion and thoughts on the subject of what we will be when we grow up. I also like the fact that she points out the unique aspects of the book. In particular the acknowledgement that I am trying to something that always used to be done by companies when I was growing up and now seems to be forgotten art in the age of the internet and that is personal communication. The last few pages of the book are blank to encourage the reader to then draw their own dream job.
Also included is an address that they can send the images to, if they wish. I will then make a gallery online on my website for this and the child can see their drawing, along with others.
I like the fact that Janette not only acknowledges but really likes this idea of communication. As she put in the review, 'Children will enjoy writing a letter to the author (with a little help from a parent or teacher) and sharing their unique drawing'.
