End Of The Season: Vanarama Conference Playoffs.

The Premiership title has been won by Chelsea today but fans of teams at the bottom of the league still have a couple of weeks to see their sides fate. In the lower Leagues though the regular season has come to a close with relegated and automatically promoted sides sorted. Only the final position of promotion in each division is yet to be decided. Starting today with the Vanarama Conference, and taking a League each day, I will sum up the ups and downs and look forward to the playoffs.

Champions: Barnet.

Manager Martin Allen guided Barnet to the top of the Conference and into League Two football next season. The ex QPR and West Ham player has done well while back at the Bees who have bounced around the lower leagues since entering the League system in 1979. The club has been in existence since 1888 but operated in amateur and the semi professional status.
The last time Barnet were promoted from the Conference as Champions was in the 1990-91 season. After a season of consolidation they then went on to get another promotion into what would now be the Skybet League One.

Playoffs:

The playoff finalists have been decided already with Bristol Rovers defeating Forest Green 3-0 over the two legs. They will face Grimsby who smashed past Eastleigh 5-1 over their two legs.
In the two games this season Grimsby tied and lost to Rovers which historically they tend to do. In forty games between the two sides Grimsby have only been victorious on thirteen occasions, the last time, eight years ago at home, 4-3.

Now they will face off again at Wembley in a couple of weeks for that final promotion spot. Sunday 17th May at 2pm GMT (9am ET) the Mariners will be hoping to balance that history out a little bit.

Prediction: Rovers win 2-0.
