As you all know I am a big fan of the Roald Dahl Children's books. I read them when I was younger and now at my old age I still get a kick out of Charlies adventure in the Chocolate Factory, George giving his Grandma experimental medicine and the sheer disgust found in 'The Twits'.
A few days ago I found out that the Roald Dahl museum in Great Missenden, England were to open their doors for one lucky person to take up residency for a three month term. The pay was fine but to be sitting in the chair that Mr Dahl had sat in while writing (well a reproduction of the chair he sat in) was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
In order to qualify for this I had to have already published a book and send them a copy along with another piece of my writing. Obviously I went with my first book, 'Beware Of The Teacher' and along with that to satisfy the criteria I sent them my Roald Dahl poetry (http://jasonbardwell.blogspot.com/2012/07/roald-dahl-poem-part-2-of-2.html)
Those, along with this cover letter, were mailed out today to Great Missenden. Fingers crossed.
Greetings,
I am writing to you in the hopes that I am the lucky winner and have found the Golden Ticket that, if presented promptly in February, will allow me to be the writer in residence at your swishwiffingly scrumdiddlyuptious museum of the man and legend, Roald Dahl.
I have attached to this email two poems (written prior to this opportunity) about the great man himself.
I have also written two Children's picture books ('Beware Of The Teacher' and 'When I Grow Up') which are currently readied to be put on a United States Postal Service plane and flown (gremlins permitting) directly to you. For the time being though could I direct you to my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/bobbard) and my website (www.jasonbardwell.com).
Any information or advice you could give me would be gloriumptiously received and consumed much the same way as frobscottle!
Many thanks and hat tippitys to you all
