December Manager Of The Month: Manuel Pellegrini

It would certainly have given Manchester United boss David Moyes something else to chuckle at when it comes to decisions from the FA, but in the end the right man won. Can you imagine the phone calls into various talk shows from United fans had the FA given David Moyes the Manager of the Month award for December?

Instead though it was the noisy neighbors Manchester City, and their boss Manuel Pellegrini who was given the prize for December. In seven Premier League games in the busiest of months his Manchester City side dropped only two points. In that time they scored 20 goals and closed the gap on leaders Arsenal.

Also in that time was a Champions League win in Germany to Bayern Munich and the Capital One Cup game against Leicester City.

City fans should hope though that the manager curse doesn't raise its head with Newcastle United head coach Alan Pardew the November Manager of the month and then dropped eight points in six games. Southampton boss won it for October and has been in free fall ever since.

So far this January results with the 6-0 Cup win and Swansea win would suggest that Pellegrini is to savvy to get to wrapped up with this award, as nice as it is.
